We work solely with European companies that use responsible methods from slow-making and cold-pressing to up-cycling to reduce their environmental impact.

All our raw ingredients underwent laboratory tests of broad-spectrum external contaminants, including but not limited to heavy metals.


Traceability is about knowing where the ingredients in your skincare and raw materials come from; we want to be able to answer all questions related to where everything originated, how and where it was processed, and what laboratory tests yielded about the purity of our ingredient. Through our Web-Shop and social media, we regularly update this information to unveil every level of our supply chain.


We put sustainability and responsibility at the core of everything we do. Selecting organic ingredients prevents us from contributing to the growing toxicity in soil and pollinating insects, while full transparency allows our customers to indeed known their skincare.

Our commitment to reducing plastic pollution comes from our background; we spent many years in marine research, noticing the increase in plastic pollution.

We try to be responsible and thoughtful about the materials we use for packaging to keep the high quality and purity of our bio-active ingredients untouched. Our glass is sourced solely from European manufacturers that subject it to extensive tests, including the criteria for stability and harmful contaminants to assure non-harmfulness.

21 Contaminants Checked

We guarantee the purity of our raw ingredient by subjecting it to laboratory analysis. In the case of Ex Prūnīs, the precious golden sweet aromatic extract from Ente plums underwent the test for 21 contaminants: Dioxins, Phthalates, Mercury, Arsenic, Cadmium, Tin, Nickel, Lead, Antimony, Barium, Ochratoxin A, Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2, Pesticides (GC 250 Multirésidus and LC 250 Multirésidus), Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), Benzo(a)pyrene, Copper, and Iron.

We offer full transparency for every single ingredient.
In today's world, transparency is critical because the environment where the plant grows determines its antioxidant potential as well as purity. Consequently, a wild-harvested plant from the remote unpolluted areas can prove more efficient and purer in its form than a plant grown in organic farm neighbouring with a large city. One cannot determine non-toxicity just by sourcing from certified organic farming. The extra step in which we analyze the purity and efficiency of the bio-active compounds makes all the difference.

Largely unregulated in organic farming, heavy metals represent a real concern. As such, we only accept ingredients tested for various heavy metals that are not toxic even for consumption.
How do we do it?

We work solely with producers who subject their raw ingredient to the heavy metal analysis.

We review each ingredient separately, taking into account up to date scientific publications and limits considered safe for consumption (WHO, EU).
We acquire or discard the raw ingredient. Only the ingredient with heavy metal levels considered safe for consumption makes it to our final product.
Our primary mission rests in the creation of undiluted skincare; this means free from water, alcohol, essential oils, basically any additives and of extraordinary purity to prevent any microbiological contamination.
We select glass as primary packaging to prevent further pollution of the sea. Our founder spent years in the marine environment for research and saw microplastics gradually filling the ocean. Fighting for the clean oceans is critical and at the core of our ethics. We, at Phaedra Botanicals, swear by never sourcing anything from the fragile marine environment and frequently venture to beaches to collect plastic waste.

Safe glass

The work we dedicate to the review of our raw ingredients and their safety would go to waste if we did not use responsibly made glass.

In our supply chain, we ensure the highest quality of all raw materials. Our glass is compliant with ISO (ISO 719:1985, ISO 7086-2:2000) and EU directives (Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004; packaging directive 94/62/EC, article 11  (related to heavy metals), EC decision 2001/171/EC, 2006/340/EC); as well as with the Commission Regulation (EC) No 987/2008.

We source our glass from the Netherlands.

Other materials

Although kept to the minimal, our packaging contains a small plastic part at the top of the glass pipette for the purpose of sealing the container. The plastic part is not in direct contact with our oil.

Polyolefin used in this section complies in its composition and purity to the requirements of Commission Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 of 14 January 2011, including its amendments (EU) No. 1282/2011, No. 1183/2012, No. 202/2014, No. 2015/174, No. 2016/1416, No.2017/752, No.2018/79, No.2018/213, and No. 2018/831.

Moreover, its composition meets the requirements of the FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.1520 "Olefin Polymers" as well as European Pharmacopoeia 9th Edition of the Groundwork 2017, including its various supplements.


The colorants used for coloring polymers parts in our packaging are not in direct contact with the oil and consist of mixtures of different pigments and carrier materials, all corresponding with the purity laws of the EU Resolution AP (89) 1. All additives comply with the Regulation (EC) 10/2011 including the amendments (EC) 321/2011, 1282/2011, 1183/2012, 202/2014, 865/2014, 2015/174, 2016/1416 and 20417/752.


All our materials used for packaging comply with the European and American regulations for materials in contact with foodstuffs, and with the European Pharmacopoeia, thus ensuring non-toxicity and prevention of contamination of our bio-active ingredient.
